                                                         Week Two / Thursday

Overcoming the Fear of…

Injustice

Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.”  - Isaiah 35:3-4

I have always been someone that truly believes justice will always prevail. I root for the truth and let the justice system take it from there.

As I get older, we as a society are getting bombarded with stories of how there are different rules for different people. The wicked seem to prosper, while the righteous suffer. Innocent people die and their killers walk free. All of this injustice is very tough to swallow, especially when it hits so close to home with my family. Our nephew, Alex, was murdered a few months after his 21st birthday back in 2017.  After only 12 months in jail, his killer walked free. Where is the Justice?

Remember that God’s only Son, Jesus, was unjustly murdered by those who were in charge. When given a chance to set him free, Pontius Pilate washed his hands of Jesus in order to please the Pharisees. Take solace in knowing that the Bible teaches us that all humanity, both the wicked and the righteous, will appear before the Lord for judgement. On that day, we will have to give an account for how we lived our lives.

In what ways do you fear injustice?

Read Isaiah 35:3-4 one more time.

  • What does this scripture tell you about God?

  • What does this scripture tell you about your fear?

Prayer for Today:  LORD God, help me trust You and Your timing. I tend to get impatient when it comes to seeking justice. This is a weakness of mine. Holy Spirit, transform this part of me and help me to trust in You. Amen.
